Negative Existence (いません/ありません)

The expressions いません (imasen) and ありません (arimasen) are used to indicate that a living or non-living being does not exist in a particular location.

Examples

• そこに犬はいません。

  There is no dog over there.

• 部屋に猫はいません。

  There is no cat in the room.

• 公園に木はありません。

  There are no trees in the park.
