Existence (あります/います)

The verbs あります (arimasu) and います (imasu) are used to express the existence of inanimate and animate objects, respectively.

Examples

• そこに猫がいます。

  There is a cat over there.

• 公園に木があります。

  There is a tree in the park.

• 学校に学生がいます。

  There are students in the school.
